Item Types
Base
The default item type. Base items are carried in your pack and their weight counts toward base weight. This is the weight you carry on your back, excluding worn items and consumables.
Worn on Body
Mark items worn on your body while hiking (clothes, shoes, watch, etc.). When an item is marked as "worn on body", 1 unit counts as worn weight and any additional units count as base weight. This means worn items don't fully count toward base weight - only the extras do.
Consumable
Mark items that get consumed during your trip (food, fuel, water, etc.). Consumable items are tracked separately in the weight summary and don't count toward base weight.
Display Options
Images
Display thumbnail images for items. When enabled, items with images will display a small thumbnail next to the item name and an image icon indicator.
Notes
Add custom notes to any item in your packlist. Notes appear below the item name on desktop and can include additional information, reminders, or specifications.
Cost
View and edit the price of each item. The currency symbol is determined by your currency setting in the settings menu.
Weight
View and edit the weight of each item. You can set different weight units for the summary and individual items in settings.
Star
Mark items as favorites. Click the star icon on any item to mark it as a favorite. This helps you quickly identify your most important or frequently used items.
Weight Summary
Base Weight
Items carried in your pack (excluding worn items and consumables). This is the weight you carry on your back.

Units & Format
Weight Units
You can set different weight units for the summary (base, worn, consumable, total) and individual items. Available units: grams (g), kilograms (kg), pounds (lb), and ounces (oz).
Currency
Set the currency symbol displayed for item prices. This affects how prices are shown but doesn't convert values between currencies.
Gear Database
What is the Gear Database?
The Gear Database is your personal collection of gear items. Create gear entries with details like name, brand, weight, price, and images. Once created, you can quickly add these items to any packlist without re-entering the information.
Creating Gear Items
Click the "Add Gear" button to create a new gear item. Fill in the name (required), brand, weight, price, and optionally add an image or link. You can also mark items as consumable and add tags for better organization.
Searching and Filtering
Use the search bar to quickly find gear items by name or brand. Filter by tags, consumable status, or whether items are currently in packlists. The filters help you organize and find your gear efficiently.
Tags
Add tags to your gear items for better organization. Tags help you categorize items (e.g., "sleeping", "cooking", "clothing"). When adding a new item to a packlist, the section name is automatically added as a tag to help with organization.
Adding to Packlists
When creating or editing a packlist, you can search for gear items from your database and add them quickly. The gear's weight, price, and other details are automatically included. You can still customize quantity, notes, and other packlist-specific settings.
Editing Gear
Click on any gear item to edit its details. Changes to gear items in the database will not automatically update packlists that already include those items. You can update packlist items individually if needed.
Import Packlist
Importing from CSV
You can import packlists from CSV files. This is useful for migrating data from other tools or bulk importing gear items. The packlist name will be taken from the filename.
CSV Format
Your CSV file must include the following columns (headers are case-sensitive):
Item Name, Category, desc, qty, weight, unit, url, price, worn, consumable
Item Name: The name of the gear item. If it contains a space, the first word will be treated as the brand and the rest as the name.
Category: The section name for organizing items in your packlist.
desc: Optional notes or description for the item.
qty: Quantity (defaults to 1 if not specified).
weight: The weight value as a number.
unit: Weight unit - must be one of: gram, grams, kilogram, kilograms, pound, pounds, ounce, or ounces.
url: Optional link URL for the item.
price: Optional price (use 0 or leave empty for no price).
worn: Set to "worn" (case-insensitive) to mark the item as worn on body, otherwise leave empty.
consumable: Set to "consumable" (case-insensitive) to mark the item as consumable, otherwise leave empty.

Note: The example above uses tabs as delimiters, but commas are also supported. Fields can be quoted if they contain special characters.
Import Process
When you import a CSV file, the system will:
- Parse the CSV file and validate the format
- Create a new packlist with the filename as the name
- Create sections based on the Category column
- Create gear items in your database for each unique item
- Add items to the packlist with the specified quantities, notes, and flags
- Navigate you to the newly created packlist
